"Softly & Tenderly" Review

I can't even begin to describe how this book impacted me. With Beryl dealing with leukemia, it hit very close to home for me. The story brought back a lot of memories of my mom's journey through cancer and her last days. Needless to say, there were a lot of tears shed on my part!

I had no idea that Sara Evans, the country singer of one of my favorite songs Perfect, was writing books! I am so impressed by this story and how real it was, that I am adding the other books in the series to my "to-read" list and I can't wait for the next one. The characters emotions and feelings were described in such detail, that I became attached to them. There struggles were real, there sorrows were real, and their emotions were real. I adored June and Beryl's conversation in the hotel room. The laughter and talk of Jesus, it was like I was sitting there listening to it. The in-law relationship is not normally easy, and with Jade and June I could tell they loved each other. I could also see a very mature adult relationship between them both. June several times tried to teach Jade lessons, but Jade felt her mother-n-law was overstepping the bounds and was not afraid to tell her so. I just can't say enough about how real this book was. I really feel that this story could be someone's real life! If you  are looking for an awesome Christian book with good biblical principles, then you've got to check this one out!
